Sunrise Senior living Facility in Carlsbad welcomes top Therapy Dog,"Truffles", to help Alzheimer patients
Carlsbad, CA –May 19, 2011: Therapy Dog extraordinaire, Truffles, with his owner, Nancy Stanley will be providing much needed TLC and smiles (of course) to the Alzheimer patients at Carlsbad’s Sunrise Senior Living Facility on Tuesday, May 17th at 2:00 pm. Sunrise Senior
Living is located at 7020 Manzanita Street in Carlsbad.
Nancy Stanley has been recognized as one of the modern day Animal Therapy Pioneers. She first introduced “Animal Therapy” to severely handicapped children and to convalescent hospitals for the elderly in 1982 after Founding Tender Loving Zoo, a nonprofit organization. Nancy also served as the National Media and Public Relations Director of Tender Loving Zoo.
Nancy authored and published Pillow With a Heartbeat, the heartwarming tale about a little dog, Truffles, who finds his big purpose. The book’s mission is to continue Truffles’ journey, bringing children of all nations together with Truffles as their “Pied Piper”, particularly children who are battling life-threatening diseases. Nancy Stanley is a wish- grantor for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in San Diego. It was as a wish-grantor that Nancy was inspired by a very special child, to write Pillow With a Heartbeat.
Truffles and I go to this Center each week. He has developed an incredible relationship to these residents.
Eveyday is a new day for them and Each week is a special occasion. They remember Truffles and they love
the attention he gives to each and everyone of them.
